A Lorax Birthday Party

January 8, 2013 By Sam 25 Comments

As most of you know, my little man turned three last week! I can’t believe how time flies! His favorite movie right now is The Lorax, so we had a big Lorax birthday celebration on Saturday. There were so many pictures and details to share with you that I’ve broken it all down into several posts. Here’s the first one…it’s full of photos so bear with me.
I hope you love it!!!

A mere four hours before the party my house was a disaster! I can’t believe I’m showing you this, but it’s the sad reality of party planning.

We had a few signs printed for outside to help welcome
everyone to our home.

A Lorax cutout greeted everyone as they entered the house
with a well-known quote:

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing’s going to get better. It’s not.

Our dining room was the main party space and the archways were flanked with pom pom truffula trees.

Balloons tied with streamers floated through the party space.

I think the truffula tree cupcakes were my favorite party detail!

Our mantel was decked out like a truffula tree forest.

As far as activities go, the kids got a chance to make Lorax mustache hats with their handprints…

and we played Pin the Mustache on the Lorax!

Everyone seemed to get a kick out of the Lorax-themed snacks.

Each of our guests got a chocolate mustache “Thank You” pop as they left.

Little man had such a great time at his birthday party…I hope it’s one he’ll remember forever!

Awe, Happy Birthday little guy! I think you wouldn’t have been able to pull off such a thoughtful party without your house looking like that :) Great job! Thank you for sharing this at Rustic Restorations Weekend!

I love the Lorax! Your Lorax inspired birthday party is great. Some wonderful ideas here that could also be used in the classroom to wrap up a unit of this wonderful book. I have chosen your post as one of the featured posts of the week for the Weekly Kid’s Co-Op and I have also pinned to the Co-Op Pinterest board :)

Love it! I am using some of your ideas for our Dr. Seuss birthday celebration. Since Lorax is on Netflix, I am going that direction! I am SOOOO glad you showed the picture of your house before the party. I SWORE I was the only one who RIGHT up until the party starts is scrambling to get it all done. Even with months of preparation! Looks awesome. And I adore the mustaches holding up the streamers. What a great touch!

Ooh I’d LOVE to see photos of your party! :-)
Trust me…I plan MONTHS for events and it never fails that the day of the party my house is a disaster and I freak out about it. But, it always comes together. Maybe not exactly as I had planned for it to, but everyone always enjoys themselves anyway!

  • I’ve been rearranging furniture like a madwoman lately ... but that always leaves me with some issues. This space, for example, is under the TV in our front room. I finally got rid of a piece that I have disliked for years ... only to find out that there’s a big ugly plug on the wall that needs to be covered. After shopping my house, this is the setup I’ve come up with. It’s not perfect, but I’m liking it so far! And it’s 500% better than what was there before, let me tell ya.
