I truly believe the most important aspect of being prepared is having a great bag. I am in love with my Thirty-One Suite Success bag. It has so many compartments, pouches and pockets – it’s a mom’s dream! (And there’s a thermal compartment … so score)
95% of my bag is filled with stuff for the kids (and probably half of that is stuff used in an attempt to keep them clean). Naturally, diapers and wipes are a must-have at all times. But I also keep some boogie wipes and diaper rash cream with me. Both of my boys have terrible diaper allergies, so when they need to wear disposable diapers, I have to put cream on them no matter what. A mini first-aid kit with band-aids, cleaning wipes, etc is also a good idea, and something that never leaves my van. And of course you can never go wrong with hand sanitizer and pacifier wipes!
My older son is past the point of needing too much in the way of a change of clothes, though I do keep an outfit for both boys in a utility tote in my van. Mostly I keep snacks and juice, toys, and other time-consuming quiet activities on hand. My favorite items for him are the crayon roll I whipped up and plain old printer paper that I cut to create preschooler-sized coloring pages (because he will color for hours at a time).
We never go anywhere without Sophie the Giraffe. She’s basically an honorary member of the family at this point. Any of you other moms feel the same way? She has been a life saver on many occasions!
You might remember reading about these baby to-go bags that I created for a friend last year. They’re so great that I made a few for myself! There are always three to four of these bags ready for me to throw in the baby bag. Each has a onesie, pants, bibdana, and socks or shoes. They make packing so easy!
Now, for the other 5% of what’s in my bag: mommy goodies. I can’t believe I forgot to photograph my phone for you guys! It is my #1 most important accessory and I cannot leave the house without it. Other than that I’m pretty easy to please … a planner/notebook, my wallet, some Mary Kay beauty blotters, and my eos (which I LOVE). There is one other thing I can never leave the house without, and that’s my U by Kotex (UBK) 3D Capture Core pads!
It can be a touchy subject, but all of you moms out there understand how crazy “things” can be after having babies. You just never know when somethings going to come up and you’re going to need a little coverage. For this reason, I always carry some UBK products. They are slim and trim which is super important to me, but they also are incredibly absorbent and reliable. Plus, they look cute in my bag and are inconspicuous … so when my four-year-old decides to dump my bag all over the floor at K-Mart, it’s not SO obvious that I’m carrying pads around.
And I know every mom loves a good deal, so I’m sharing something exciting with you today! If you join K-Mart’s Shop Your Way program you can receive $3 instant savings when purchasing two UBK items!! How awesome is that? I mean – you have to buy them anyway, so why not save some money while you’re at it?!
I’m pretty sure I covered almost everything that is in my bag on a regular basis… though I’m sure I missed a few things!
