As I mentioned earlier, I have been slacking over here and I feel really terrible about it! So, I want to share with you guys this fun and affordable Christmas gift. It’s perfect for the person who has everything, or for those last-minute gifts you just couldn’t figure out earlier.
One of my favorite things about the holidays are all the lovely scents everywhere. From pine trees to cinnamon sticks, you can’t go anywhere without being bombarded by the smell of Christmas…I love it! In my home I like to use a simmer pot because I can control not only the strength of the scent, but I know there aren’t any chemicals going into my home.
This gift is made of things you most likely already have at home, and can be whipped up in a few minutes. Here’s how to make your very own “Scent of Christmas” simmer pot scent jar.
What You’ll Need:
Mason or Swing-Top Jar
Orange
Lemon
Cinnamon Sticks
Vanilla Beans or Extract
Almond Extract
Cloves
Allspice
I added 2 lemon wedges and 3 orange wedges to each jar, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 1 vanilla bean (cut in half). Everything else I just sprinkled liberally into the jars. Of course, feel free to add your favorite holiday flavors for a personal touch. Fill the jar with water and seal tightly. Tie with pretty ribbon and give to all of your friends!
Instructions: Pour contents into saucepan on stove-top; bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer on low. Add water as needed. Refrigerate to keep fresh.
